What is the big fuss about inter-racial relationships anyway?

Singapore is a multi racial country and two people of different races are bound to fall in love with each other. So why make a big fuss of it?

You may laugh and feel that at this time of age it is ridiculous to think that such mentality still exists; the mentality that one should marry inside his/her own race to keep the bloodline pure. I'm merely bringing out a topic i think is evident in this society now. Only thing is no one ever really talks about this.

I'm speaking through experience I have a Chinese girl friend who married a Malay boy. Her parents disowned her. She still visits her parents on Chinese New Year but they still gives her the cold shoulder.

Love is blind... one doesn't need to be of a certain race to be in love with each other. I myself have had previous relationships with people of a different race. Don't see a problem with that.

You asking me what made me talk about this topic? I was watching a VCD... movie entitled "Sepet" a film by Yasmin Ahmad. It's a love story with a nice plot. Pity the main actor died in the end. I hate sad love stories. In the movie you actually see the love of a Chinese boy and a Malay girl. Some issues are highlighted on the stereotyping of the different races, namely the Chinese and Malays. If u can, try and catch the movie.
